Job Description

There is an immediate opportunity for an experienced Policy Analyst that will be responsible for analysing the public policy landscape, analyse trends in policy making and proffer sustainable solutions for advancing the policy and regulatory landscape.

The individual’s Responsibilities will include:

Stakeholder analysis and engagement.
Preparing reports and conducting research on specific issues or topics based on organisational priorities.
Conducting research and providing information to support the development of new policies and procedures.
Reviewing and preparing written analyses of proposed policies and regulations to determine their impact on specific groups or industries.
Preparing talking points, briefing materials and other materials required for effective stakeholder engagement.
Preparing reports that document the findings of research efforts, including data analysis and interpretation, and outreach exercises amongst others.
Managing clients and working closely with stakeholders, while planning and implementing strategies for business development.
Planning and organising meetings, workshops and other engagement events.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years experience in some specialized areas of work, preferably public policy, economics, law, political science or business administration.
They must possess a good understanding of industry and market conditions and have strong communication, analytical and organisational skills.
Any relevant training, qualifications or certifications will be an advantage.

The required skills include:

Research and Analysis: The ability to conduct independent research and analyse topics and issues to determine the most appropriate cause of action. Finding information about the problem, the potential solutions and the potential outcomes of each solution. Analysing data for policy formulation and impact analysis to determine policy efficacy. This requires effective research skills, including the ability to read and interpret data, evaluate sources and find information on multiple resources, including online. A general understanding of legislative procedures and a grasp of the legislative landscape is essential.
ICT Skills: The ability to utilise Information Technology tools to enhance productivity and improve efficiency, with at least an intermediate knowledge of the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Communication: Communicating with stakeholders, including clients, government officials, industry stakeholders and others. This means leveraging existing and emerging communication tools, including print, internet, social media. It also requires producing communication materials, including reports, presentations, briefing documents and so on.
Partnerships and Relationship Management: The ability to develop partnerships with relevant stakeholders and manage existing ones. This includes identifying opportunities for effective engagement that can potentially lead to improved business prospects.
Attention to detail: The ability to notice small changes and make adjustments accordingly.
