Job Description
To lead the multi-functional / dimensional asset footprint of the facility and associated operating crews, being responsible for outputs and costs over these assets, and liaising with all parties with a vested interest in this production, while ensuring at all times assets are managed, maintained and operated at world class standards in the areas of safety, quality and cost.
To be an active and integral member of the Facility Management Team (FMT). Providing input on strategic and tactical plans for the Mill.
Main Responsibilities
Participate in strategic Safety initiatives and directs and maintain high levels of safety awareness through 100% employee participation.
Establish, implement and maintain excellent working conditions and high levels of housekeeping using the 5S system.
Ensure the quality and centreline culture is adopted, implemented and enforced and that quality systems are reviewed for adherence and compliance. Participate in meetings to support business development initiatives.
Manage programs which will ensure optimum performance in achieving targets and objectives in the areas of asset efficiency and reliability. This includes the development of continuous improvement plans.
Ensure departmental performance is maintained within set standards and that KCC Lean Manufacturing framework is implemented.
Provides leadership and direction to deputies using team concepts and techniques to accomplish departmental/plant objectives.
Assist and support maintenance programmes to ensure increased asset reliability.
Maintain and enforce effective financial and internal controls in order to achieve zero audit finding. Full compliance with Government Regulations and Corporate Policies.
Create an environment of continuous improvement through empowerment, education and training.
Develop a sense of belonging by creating a workplace that encourages high involvement and maximises the capabilities of team and individuals.
Required Qualifications / Experience
Minimum of a B.Tech in Production Management or Engineering, a BSc Degree preferably in Production, Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Minimum of 5 years plant and people management experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment (FMCG) is required, of which at least 3 years must be in a senior management role.
Proven record of operational success or related business success.
Sound management and leadership skills are essential and above average computer literacy are required.
