We are looking for a Marketing Consultant with 4+ years experience in marketing at high-growth, fast-paced organisations, preferably in healthcare or insurance, and/or who is familiar with selling into the public sector within Nigeria. The role will report directly to the VP Marketing (based in the UK) and work hand-in-hand with the Nigeria-based Sales & Ops teams plus our PR agency to support our launch in Abuja.
Our ideal candidate will have a clear POV on the marketing strategies that will be most successful in Nigeria, and be comfortable with on-the-ground research & execution. A successful candidate would be a high-performing marketing generalist who deeply understands the Nigerian market, specifically in Abuja, and be comfortable communicating findings to all cross-functional stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

Report directly to the VP Marketing, working closely to create & execute the Elephant marketing strategy in Abuja and drive insurance registrations for FHIS (the FCT state-sponsored insurance scheme) as part of our co-marketing efforts
Work closely with in-country team in Nigeria to conduct field research eg. deeply understanding the end-to-end insurance registration process, including operational pain points, current FHIS marketing efforts and any blockers that prohibit seamless enrolment
Be comfortable speaking to patients within healthcare facilities to understand why they would or would not purchase insurance & report findings back to the UK-based marketing team
Identify marketing channels & execute media buys and/or organic opportunities that would help drive enrolment and/or create a faster registration experience, eg radio, TV, OOH, in-clinic signage, digital marketing
Source & project manage local production partners and/or designers to deliver best-in-class, localised B2C marketing materials
Handle all localisation efforts, making sure external marketing collateral is translated into appropriate local languages (eg Yoruba) and meticulously quality-checked
Act as a guardian of the brand, ensuring that all materials and collateral produced in-market uphold and elevate Elephant’s brand across all channels
Source relevant local community events where patient sensitisation would be beneficial; suggest what kind of registration and/or sensitisation presences should be in attendance
Liaise with Elephant’s local PR agency, packaging together comms materials to support common goal of promoting Elephant’s partnership with FHIS and driving registrations
Conduct additional user research, visiting clinics alongside our Ops team in order to deeply understand the patient and frontline user experience; advise on creative ways to improve common pain points
Lead end-to-end project management for all local marketing activity; this includes strong organisational skills, with proven success making detailed plans, managing timing and contributing to budget tracking
Be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently
