Job Title: Instrumentation Technician / PACO Support
Location: Delta (Swamp / Field based)

Roles and Responsibilities
The Instrument Technician will be responsible for the following:
Calibrations of smart transmitter (using HART communicator), pressure controllers, Safeguarding System devices, Pressure control valves, relief valves, Pressure vacuum valves, Regulators,
Use and interpret Engineering Drawings for field work
Carry out calibration of flow and level switches, Digital and Pneumatic Instrumentation, Process Automation and Controls Systems
Maintenance of AFFF fire and gas systems and Linear Heat detection (LHD) system on crude oil storage tanks
Operation and maintenance of field instrument devices.
Use of diagnostic tools such as Druck Pressure Calibrator, hand pumps, Current Loop Calibrator (Unomat), Hart Communicator and other Instrumentation hand tools for testing and fault tracing in Hazardous Areas.
Daily proactive monitoring of rotating equipment and safety instrumented systems (SIS)& production critical equipment.
Job Hazard Assessments / Permit to Work preparation.
Promotes site safety and continuous hazard identification, mitigation, and close-out.
Work closely with other service Contractor(s) for safe delivery of vendor-based maintenance jobs.
Other assignments for continuous improvements (AMS process application: RCAs, MTO, MEC etc.) as exigent.
Requirements
Academics:
Candidates should possess an OND / HND / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent Instrumentation course
Work Experience:
Minimum of 10 years' experience working in an oil and gas producing field location or servicing oil and gas producing locations.
Experience inSPDC Crude Export Terminal operations (Preferably Forcados Terminal) is a strong prerequisite.This includes good acquaintance with decades-old installed equipment and instant ability to maintain them.
Age: <45 years
Key Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot and rectify Instrumentation faults using P&ID drawings, loop drawings and PEFS.
Experience in operations and maintenance of Field Instrumentation devices including but not limited to Transmitters (HART). control valves, Flow meters, differential pressure transmitters, Shutdown valves, Motorized Operated Valves, and actuators (MOVs), Fire & Gas detectors, Switches, Solenoids, loop checks.
Experience in Distributed Control Systems (Yokogawa Centum VP). Ability to carry out first line trouble shooting using the engineering workstation, carry out control loop tuning, alarm downloads and bad actor analysis.
Experience in Crude Oil Tank gauging systems. We have ENRAF gauges on the tanks all tied to an ENTTIS tank gauging system. Ability to carry out loop checks and calibrate the gauges for crude oil measurements.
Experience in Fire & Gas system checks. Ability to carry out functional testing of the field detectors and carry out repairs where necessary.
Experience in dynamic metering recertification activities including prover loop calibration exercise, meter calibration, crude oil meter proving exercise, fiscal measurement devices maintenance, linearity checks, Autosampler grab performance test and ancillary instrument calibration exercises in line with statutory guidelines will be a great added advantage.
Soft Skills:

Computer literate (Competent user of Microsoft Office and ability to liaise with programs)
Experience in Computerized maintenance management system (SAP)
Experience in the collaborative use of electronic permit-to-work systems
Knowledge of worksite hazard management

Ability to work with other professionals to carry out RCAs & AARs
Ability to interface with government regulators
A demonstrable high level of safety consciousness

Demonstration of working across disciplines (Electrical and Mechanical)
Possession of T-BOSIET certification.
Work Cycle and Conditions:
Successful candidate will hit the ground running working on a mix of equipment most over two decades old with less OEM support but on gradual upgrade.
Must be able to climb crude oil storage tanks of around 25 metres in height and work on platforms around the tank.
The work location is Swamp / field based Delta state) accessible via Helicopter / boat.
The job activity period is daily on 12-hour (6am to 6pm) routine over a 21-day period.
Must be willing to respond to emergency activities at any time there is a call from the control room including odd hours of the night.
There is a standard 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off schedule but due to the current Covid-19 pandemic the current rota is 21 days ON, 21 days OFF.
The successful candidate will manage own absences with his/her contractor for suitable qualified covers.
There may be need for periodic visits to Shell Industrial Area for trainings and official assignments.
There may be need to undertake driving of Light vehicles under company guidelines and certification in the course of day-to-day work activities
Personnel may be required to work extended hours as need may arise.
